CAIOC project

CAIOC (Cyber Artificial Intelligence Operational Capability) is a European project that applies artificial intelligence to Cyber Threat Intelligence activities to make the analysis of cyber threats faster and more effective. The aim is to provide SOCs and CERTs with tools that can contextualise threats and identify emerging trends and techniques, strengthening digital resilience at national and European level.
Co-funded by the European Commission under the Digital Europe Programme and coordinated by Poste Italiane, the project brings together industrial, institutional and academic partners. Among them is Telsy, which contributes its expertise in cybersecurity, threat intelligence and geopolitical analysis.
Cloud, IoT and artificial intelligence systems are expanding the attack surface of organisations every day. To defend themselves, they need to recognise threats before they strike.
CAIOC uses artificial intelligence to analyse large amounts of data and link geopolitical scenarios to attack trends, exploited vulnerabilities and the impact on digital services. The result is operational information that organisations can use to decide where to act and to share with other security stakeholders.
Telsy led Work Package 2, dedicated to defining the cyber intelligence objectives and information requirements of the CAIOC platform, and continuously feeds the project’s artificial intelligence models for the analysis of geopolitical scenarios relevant to cybersecurity.
As Work Package Leader of WP2, Telsy coordinated the activities that laid the foundations of the platform:
- mapping the bodies and organisations interested in the project’s results, by type and sector;
- selecting the cybersecurity sources from which the machine learning models will collect data and information;
- gathering stakeholders’ needs through two questionnaires, to define the functional requirements of the platform.
Every week, Telsy collects news on specific geopolitical scenarios, selects it with its own analysts, prepares it for automated analysis and transfers it to the project platform, where it feeds the machine learning models.
