Quantum Telecommunications Italy (QTI) is an innovative start-up founded in October 2020 as a spin-off of the National Institute of Optics, National Research Council (CNR).

Italy’s first Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) company, QTI develops and produces industrial-grade quantum network systems for unconditional communications security.

A Telsy investee company since July 2021, QTI has more than 30 employees and is based in Florence, Italy. Its mission is to achieve a large-scale level of future-proof security in government and business environments, giving equal importance to research and commercial activities.

QUANTUM KEY DISTRIBUTION

The systems developed by QTI are based on Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology, a method that exploits the properties of quantum mechanics to ensure the security of communications against any type of eavesdropping: classical or quantum, today and tomorrow.

Specifically, the technology makes it possible to produce and share, safe from cyber attacks and independent from the computational capacity of a possible eavesdropper, a random secret key that can be used by a classical encryption system to encrypt and decrypt messages.

FEATURE

TELSY & QTI

The merger of Telsy and QTI allows the seamless integration of QTI’s QKD system with Telsy’s ciphers.

The sharing of technology and expertise between the two companies, embedded within the TIM Group ecosystem, allows for an end-to-end encryption system compatible with current telecommunications infrastructure for civil and government applications, representing an unicum in Europe.
